Annual Day

The first Sunday in July, which is also the Commencement ceremony for all graduates (pre-Kindergarden-post graduate).

History

The Parent Teachers' Association was established by Mrs. Mary Ellen Foster (first Chairperson) and other church school parents and teachers in 1947.

The group originated from the Home Department of the Church School.  The purpose of the P.T.A. was to serve as a liaison between parents and the Church School.  The P.T.A. supported Church School activities and reached out to parents of Church School students to encourage them to join the P.T.A. and offer assistance when need.

TheP.T.A. has always been an advocate for children. All P.T.A. events were organized to focus on our children and support all young people. Each year on our Annual Day, all graduates of the church are honored and given gifts. The Annual Baby Contest was originally initiated to raise funds to send Church School students to the Empire State Congress of Christian Education.

The P.T.A. has provided literature for parents, which contain strategies and suggestions of how they can help their children improve academically and develop a positive self-image.

Today the P.T.A. is extremely proud of their Annual Holiday Book Drive. This project has succeeded due to the church family's (and donations of visiting friends) donations of new books or financial donations to purchase books to give to children in need. Our two donation sites (on alternating years) are the Auburn Family Shelter and the Pediatric Unit of Woodhull Hospital.

The P.T.A. will continue to initiate projects and event that will empower and support parents and our children to excel academically, grow spiritually and become successful members of society.
