BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways, acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path.” Proverbs 3:5,6

† MISSION STATEMENT †

As a body of Christian women our purpose is to strive to carry out the word and work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to live up to the tenets we profess as set forth in our Church Covenant; to be guided by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and its Pastor; and to diligently and prayerfully assist in carrying out the missions and goals of this church.

  • Organized and founded by Mrs. Geneva Berrien in 1972 as a division of the Missionary Society

  • 1972 Easter Lily Project started at suggestion of Mrs. Georgia Gayden

  • During the 80’s B & P’s supported “Wheels for Christ” and initiated the Ramp Project

  • 1986 Business and Professional Women separated from Missionary Society and given Club status

  • 1987 The Sandy F. Ray Awards Luncheon, originated by Mrs. Mary Haughton and in 2003 held their seventeenth successful luncheon.

Special Projects

Easter Lily Project

The idea for the Easter Lily Project was given as a gift from a dying friend, Mrs. Georgia Gayden to our President Emeritus, Mrs. Geneva Berrien in 1972 and has continued to this day.

The Project has a four-fold purpose:

Memorialize our loved ones

Honor the living

Bring cheer to our sick and shut-ins

Beautify our Church because HE LIVES

Each year during the weeks before Easter Sunday the Business and Professional Women offer for $10.00 each, Easter Lilies, which are then placed on the Church altar on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  After they have been viewed and enjoyed by all, purchasers may either take their lilies home or donate to shut-ins.  B & P members deliver lilies to the sick and shut- ins both after the Good Friday Service and on Easter Sunday.

This project is ongoing and every member of the B & P’s contributes their time to make this a beautiful and blessed part of our Easter Season.
