HISTORY
In August 1930, Mrs. Anna Sampson, a member
of the Cornerstone Baptist Church under the Leadership of
the late Pastor W. T. Fentress, saw the need for beautifying
the church and organized the Floral Circle. The purpose of
the "Circle" was to supply flowers for the rostrum
each Sunday, thus promoting an atmosphere of love.
Since then, each Sunday
morning beautiful flowers are placed in shining brass vases
to adorn the pulpit.
Many times members and friends purchase them in memory
or in honor of loved ones, or for a special event.
The third Sunday of
each month is Holy Communion Sunday, a special day in the
life of Cornerstone Church.
Special white bouquets enhance the pulpit for this
sacred service. At the close of Sunday Service, flowers are
taken to members who are hospitalized, con-fined to their
homes, or Nursing Homes. This
is the manner by which the Floral Club "spread sunshine."
Funds are generated
by contributions from members of the Floral Club, and from
sponsorship of events/projects.
