Mr.  Irvin  Wood

          Irvin, a native of Charlotte County Virginia, is the eldest of  ten children born to the marriage of Blanche Wilson Wood and the late James Wood.  His home church, Rocky Branch Baptist, Red Oak, Virginia is where his love for Sunday School began.  He joined Cornerstone Baptist Church in 1990.

            He earned an associate’s degree from New York City College and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baruch College.

          Mr. Wood is a single and retired.  He was the godfather of the late Lawrence Fredericks of Brooklyn.

          Currently, Mr. Wood is a dedicated teacher of Class #8 in the Adult Department.  He also an assistant superintendent in the Adult Department.  He loves to interact in the teacher’s meetings and seldom misses a session.  He obeys God’s command to visit the sick and shutin by visiting the Bishop Hucles Nursing Home every month on the second Saturday.

          His hobbies is gardening and he is a member of the Green Thumb gardening Club.  He is an active member of the community awareness group – the Bailey Club.

          It is distinct honor to present Mr. Irvin Wood, our 2006 Church School Father of the Year.
