He and his family enjoy eating out, seafood being his favorite as well as traveling. He and his wife, Cynthia’s goals for their children, Lawrence IV and Karina Vivian, are to raise them in the Christian life, educate them well and watch them grow into adulthood responsibly.

Pastor Aker’s mission is to advance the legacy left to him by the line of great pastors of this magnificent church – from Reverend William F. Rodman to Dr. Sandy F. Ray to Dr. Harry S. Wright.

His wish is to move Cornerstone to “another level” during his season. Quoting from author, Gary Macintosh, we have “one church, three generations”. Pastor Aker expresses his desire to have Cornerstone be a truly intergenerational church.

To this end he is looking toward a blended worship, which includes both our youth, middle, and senior members – “Bach and show Bach” – traditional and contemporary combined to have worship, stewardship and evangelism for all generations.

He is looking forward to an “evangelism explosion” to increase the number of souls for the Kingdom of God.

Personal

Pastor Aker is well read. He loves to read biographies and books on African studies. He is a great sports fan, the Raiders and the Knicks being his favorite teams. (Listen to him preach and you will often hear sports analogies.) He enjoys not only wonderful church music but also R & B and contemporary music and throws in a quote now and then from popular music to get the attention of our modern youth.
