The function of the Allen Jordan Laymen's Movement is to serve the Cornerstone Baptist Church and our community wherever needed. To the glory of God, no job is too great or too small for a laymen to tackle. A laymen would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord than to dwell in the tents of the wicked. We serve our community as humanitarians to our fellow citizens. Our own Dr. A.C. Curry, who while in Africa helping to put a roof on a house removed his shoes to give to a brother who had no shoes. |

Annual History Makers Luncheon Under the leadership of the late president Deacon Edward Driver, the laymen decided to have an annual History Makers Luncheon during the month of February. Their plan was to invite a guest speaker, either a fellow laymen or minister who has made history either locally or nationally. Our group also decided to honor a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church who has been a committed and dedicated worker. We also wanted to honor a history maker from the community who has made outstanding contributions to society. The late Rev. Dr. Sandy F. Ray and his wife the late Mrs. Cynthia Perry Ray were two of our noted honorees. Our first honoree was the late judge J.B. Williams, a Cornerstone trustee. Distinguished honorees during the past 38 years includes:
The Allen Jordan Laymen's Movement of Cornerstone Baptist Church thanks you for your attendance at our annual luncheon and for your continued support of this wonderful event. We are grateful for your encouragement, prayers, and love. the "Word" says "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.". We will continue to press on through service, spreading the Good News, and witnessing as we move to another level.
