The Reverend Lawrence E. Aker, III

Lawrence E. Aker, III currently serves as Senior Pastor
of the Cornerstone Baptist Church,
Brooklyn, New York. In 2003, he was elected as the
eighth pastor in the church’s history succeeding his
spiritual mentor Dr. Harry S. Wright, Sr.
Under his leadership Cornerstone has continued to thrive.
Through the use of technology on-line giving has increased stewardship.
The installation
of plasma screens in the sanctuary has enhanced worship services.
His vision to reach more youth has led to the formation of “Friday Nite
Fire,” a contemporary weekly Bible Study for youth and young adults.
Pastor Aker has also inspired the Women of the Word (WOW) ministry,
which seeks to spiritually nurture the women of Cornerstone.

In 2005, an additional service was created to provide parishioners convenience
and another style of worship. Pastor Aker has also led the church through
extensive renovation to the exterior of the edifice. He has also initiated
the Annual Cornerstone Golf Classic held every June. In the near future,
the church will break ground to renovate their gymnasium and Community
Center.
Reverend Aker was born in Oakland, California and raised in Dallas, Texas.
He graduated cum laude from Howard University with a B.A. in Communications.
He holds a Master in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary; a Master
of Sacred Theology from Yale University, and is presently a Doctor of
Philosophy candidate at Drew University, Madison, New Jersey. Reverend
Aker has also been blessed with the opportunity to study Biblical Archaeology
at The Holy Land Institute in Jerusalem and has had the opportunity to
preach in Zimbabwe, Africa.
Reverend Aker is a family man and resides in Brooklyn, New York with
his wife and college
sweetheart, Cynthia. They are the proud parents of one son, Lawrence
IV, and two daughters, Karina Vivian and Nyla Victoria.
